David Muench was born in Santa Barbara, California on June 25, 1936. As a child, he helped his father do his own work being a photographer. David accompanied his father on a backpacking trip in the Sierras where he became inspired to be a photographer for nature and landscapes. During his teenage years, David published his first photos as front and back covers of the Arizona Highways. David studied at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Los Angeles Art Center School of design. Majoring in photography, David devoted his career to landscape photography. David takes photos that are in deserts, national parks, lakes, meadows, and mountains. His work has been featured in many museums such as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Phoenix Art Museum, Center for Creative Photography, and Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. Right now, David is 83 and has two children, Zandria and Marc, who are also photographers that will carry the family legacy.
